Rev. Jesse Jackson: ‘It’s Time’ For A Black Man On The 2000 Presidential Ballot

Reverend Jesse Jackson joined “Meet the Press” on October 25, 1998 to discuss Black voter turnout ahead of the 1998 midterm elections. Jackson referred to Election Day as “Dignity Day” for Democrats. Black voters, Jackson said, should “expect” to see a Black man on the 2000 presidential ticket, because they “have been so loyal” to the Democratic Party.
