Noor Alexandria Abukaram was disqualified from an Ohio high school race because of her hijab in 2019. Her frustration went viral and inspired an Ohio state law that promised to better protect athletes’ religious expression. Now, NBC News’ Jesse Kirsch reports on Abukaram running the New York City Marathon this weekend and her mission to promote inclusivity in the sport.
