Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a guest on “Meet the Press” on August 25, 1963. Appearing along with NAACP Executive Secretary Roy Wilkins, King advocated for civil rights, saying, “We confront the fact that the Negro is still the victim of glaring and notorious conditions of segregation and discrimination,” and that instead of slowing down the civil rights movement, “we must push at this point, and we must continue to move on.” The interview occurred three days before the march on Washington.
